In fact, Seaman's own laboratories are responsible for nearly all of the major technological improvements in fluoropolymer-coated polyester fabrics for architectural structures over the past five decades.

While many companies around the world produce fluoropolymer-coated polyester fabrics for architectural structures, Shelter-Rite material is unique in design and performance.
The majority of the Shelter-Rite Architectural products start with weft-inserted warp-knit base fabric that we produce in our own textile mill. In this fabric design there is no crimp that is forced onto the yarns, allowing structural loads to be applied directly to the fiber. As a result, Shelter-Rite fabric has uniform and consistent elongation characteristics.
Woven fabrics have been a staple in Seaman's offering dating back over 60 years. With state-of-the-art technology, wovens are offered with a predetermined stretch for a given load. This is an important characteristic when designing for pretensioned surfaces.
Superior Polymer Technology
The PVC compound that is applied to the base fabric is formulated by our scientists to provide years and years of outstanding service in extreme environmental conditions. Highly trained manufacturing personnel perform all of the coating operations. In addition, extensive quality-control checks are performed at each coating step and on every 100 yards of the finished material.
A wide variety of colors and top finishes are available for your fabric structure. Top finish choices include acrylics, PVDF and our Shelter-Rite Brite with Kynar. Kynar has a long history of providing superior durability, colorfastness, inertness, self-cleaning and UV stabilization in the architectural market. Consult our Top Finish page for more information.
